How do I install a Grok Bot template?

A practical checklist for reviewing a shared Bot, adding a copy and checking its setup.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Open the shared template page, review what it includes, and choose Add to Grok Bot. The Grok Bot app completes the process; check the resulting copy before giving it a real task.

Before you add a template

You need access to Grok Bot and its app. Check the author, the Bot’s job, its instructions, skills, routines and requested connections. Treat a public template as third-party material, and avoid sharing passwords or private information with an unfamiliar Bot.

A shared template is a starting configuration, not a copy of the author’s computer, sign-ins or conversation history. Your account and the author’s account can have different permissions or connected services.

Add and inspect your copy

Open the author’s official share link and review the preview. Choose Add to Grok Bot and follow the prompts in the app. If the link is team-only, access depends on the author’s sharing settings and your team membership.

Open the new Bot and inspect its instructions, available skills and connections. Check routines individually: confirm their status, owner, schedule, time zone and destination before relying on them. Do not assume every integration is already connected.

Run a small first task

Give the Bot a low-risk example with a clear expected output. Check its sources, missing information and actions. If a skill or integration is missing, review the author’s setup instructions and the app’s connection settings before repeating the task.

A click on a share link does not prove that installation or a task succeeded. Keep the first run manual until you understand what the Bot can access and do.
