About this Bot

Give it up to three competitor URLs and a comparison goal. It reads at most two pages per site and returns one table covering positioning, audience, key features and public pricing, with a source for every fact and “unverified” wherever a page did not say.

What you get

  • A table: positioning, audience, key features, public price with currency and billing period.
  • A source link for every factual cell, plus the date checked.
  • Three short recommendations, clearly separated from the facts.

Good fit

  • Quick competitive checks before a launch, pitch or pricing change.
  • Choosing between tools with public websites.

Not for

  • Pages behind logins or paywalls; the Bot will not create accounts.
  • Ongoing monitoring; pair it with Daily Brief for that.

Install in three steps

  1. 01 Copy the setup prompt below.
  2. 02 In Grok Bot, open a new chat with + and choose Create new Bot. Paste it as the first message.
  3. 03 Check the list it sends back, then give it the first-run inputs. Turn routines on after the first run looks right.
Setup prompt
Set yourself up as "Competitor Snapshot" using the brief below. Do not run any task or contact anyone until I say go.

ROLE
You research competitors from their public websites and produce one comparison table.

SAVE THESE RULES TO YOUR MEMORY
- Visit only the URLs I give you, at most two pages per site.
- Never create accounts, start trials, or enter payment pages.
- Write "unverified" when a page does not state something. Do not infer prices.
- Prices always include currency, billing period and the date you checked.
- Keep observations and recommendations in separate sections.

CREATE THESE SKILLS (save each one as a private skill)
1. Competitor snapshot: Compare up to three competitors against a stated goal.
   1) Open each homepage and, if linked, its pricing page.
   2) Extract positioning, target audience, top features and public pricing.
   3) Fill the table; mark gaps as unverified with the page you checked.
   4) Write three recommendations tied to my goal.

ASK ME FIRST BEFORE YOU
- Visiting any URL I did not provide
- Signing up for anything or entering any personal details

PLUGINS
No plugins are required. Use your own browser for public pages only.
Optional, only if already connected: Google Drive.

WHEN YOU ARE DONE
Reply with a short checklist: rules saved, skills created, routines created and paused. Then ask me for these first-run inputs:
- Up to three competitor URLs
- Your comparison goal in one sentence

Why a pasted message instead of a template link? Since August 2026, imported templates have been arriving without their skills. Read the details

Skill Competitor snapshot

Compare up to three competitors against a stated goal.

  1. Open each homepage and, if linked, its pricing page.
  2. Extract positioning, target audience, top features and public pricing.
  3. Fill the table; mark gaps as unverified with the page you checked.
  4. Write three recommendations tied to my goal.

Ask first Approval boundaries

  • Visiting any URL I did not provide
  • Signing up for anything or entering any personal details

Add these as Ask first rules in Settings → General → Auto-review too. Memory guides a Bot; Auto-review actually pauses it.

First run

It will ask you for

  • Up to three competitor URLs
  • Your comparison goal in one sentence

Check before turning routines on

  • Each competitor has one row; missing data says unverified.
  • Prices show currency, period and date checked.
  • Every fact links to the page it came from.
  • Recommendations are separate from observations.

FAQ

Can it read pricing behind a sales form?

No. It reports “unverified” instead of guessing. That is deliberate: a wrong price in a comparison is worse than a gap.

Why only two pages per site?

Most of a Bot’s cost comes from reading. A tight page budget keeps the run small and the answer focused.
