Does Grok Bot share usage with Cursor?
Last checked October 28, 2026 · Grok Bot changes often
It depends on your plan. On The X Subscription (Premium, Super, Ultra, launched October 12, 2026), Grok Bot draws from one shared weekly pool together with Grok and Cursor. On legacy Cursor plans, Grok Bot has its own separate weekly allowance. In both cases, coding agents that a Bot launches run on your Cursor usage, and anything beyond the included pool moves to paid additional usage if you have enabled it.
This question produced more confused forum threads than almost any other, partly because the answer changed with the October 2026 plan switch and partly because the usage page displayed Grok Bot rows in the wrong place for a while. Here is the current picture.
On The X Subscription (new plans)
Since October 12, 2026, new customers buy one plan that covers Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium. Forum staff confirmed:
- Premium, Super and Ultra each include one shared weekly usage pool.
- Grok Bot draws from that same pool as Grok and Cursor. There is no separate Grok Bot allowance on these plans.
- Third-party models in Cursor (such as Claude or GPT) are not in the pool; they are billed as additional usage from the first use.
- On self-serve team plans each seat has its own pool; seats do not share.
On legacy Cursor plans
If you are still on an older Cursor Pro, Pro+ or Ultra plan, Grok Bot has its own included weekly allowance, separate from your Cursor monthly usage. Chats, routines, browser and computer use, shell commands, sub-agents and MCP calls made by the Bot all come out of that weekly allowance.
The exception on every plan
When a Bot launches a coding agent to change code, that agent's work bills to your Cursor usage, not to the Bot's allowance. One user's bill doubled up exactly this way: the Bot orchestrated, the coding agent built.
"But my usage page showed Grok Bot under Cursor Models"
That was a display issue. Rows named grok-bot-default, grok-bot-automation and grok-bot-cua appeared inside the Cursor Models and Other Models breakdowns. Staff said in September 2026 that it had been fixed and the headline percentages had been correct throughout. If you still see something that does not add up, email the support address listed on your account page with the specific charges.
When the pool runs out
Staff described the order as: included weekly pool → any referral or promo credits → paid additional usage, if enabled. See How do I stop Grok Bot from charging extra?
