Can I use Grok Bot in the Grok app or my Tesla?
Last checked October 28, 2026 · Grok Bot changes often
Only with the right subscription. The Bots section inside the main Grok app (and Grok in Tesla vehicles) has required a SuperGrok subscription; a Cursor plan alone shows an upgrade screen there. If you reach your Bots through a Cursor plan, use the separate Grok Bot mobile app — its voice chat works through your car's Bluetooth.
Why you see an upgrade screen
There are two ways to reach Grok Bot: the dedicated Grok Bot apps, and a Bots section inside the main Grok app. Forum staff explained in October 2026 that the Bots section of the Grok app is tied to a SuperGrok subscription, so users whose Grok Bot access comes through a Cursor plan see an upgrade prompt in the Grok app and in Grok on Tesla.
With The X Subscription bundling Grok and Cursor, this may change for new plans; check which subscription your account shows.
Talking to your Bot in the car today
Staff suggested this workaround:
- Connect your phone to the car over Bluetooth.
- Open the Grok Bot mobile app and the chat with your Bot.
- Leave the message field empty and press the waveform button to start voice chat.
Good in-car tasks
Short, read-only requests work best by voice: "What's on my calendar this afternoon?", "Read me today's brief", "Any urgent email from Acme?". Keep actions that send or change things behind approvals.
